In the spring of 1995, a handful of figure skating instructors at the Bridgewater Sports Arena took to the ice in hockey equipment. At first, members of the newborn Wings Hockey Club utilized any available ice time. They recruited experienced friends and spouses to serve as coaches. Soon, more women, many who were new to skating, joined the group. Encouraged by their progress, the Wings not only became a team, but a highly competitive team.
In 2000-2001, the overall growth of women's hockey in the United States had a profound impact on the Wings. By the end of the season the team's membership had almost tripled in size to include more than 40 players. The Wings were now a women's hockey organization with enough players for two competitive teams.
2001-2002 was another year of growth for the Wings. Two practice and game slots per week were obtained because there were now almost 60 players registered with the organization. Additionally, the decision was made to form three teams.
Through 2000 to the present the Wings have participated in league, Atlantic District and National play-offs, as well as numerous indendepent tournaments.
This season, all three of the Wings teams are members the UWHL - United Women's Hockey League).
